Definition

Indicate whether the institution takes orders from customers for the sale or purchase of securities, regardless of whether this activity occurs in a custody or safekeeping account or elsewhere in the institution as an accommodation to the customer. Place an 'X' in the box marked 'Yes' if the reporting institution takes securities sale or purchase orders from customers. Otherwise, place an 'X' in the box marked 'No.' For example, if the only persons accepting customers' orders for securities are licensed dual employees (i.e., individuals who are both employees of the bank and licensed representatives of a registered broker-dealer) who take orders under a third-party networking arrangement with a registered broker, the employees would be accepting the orders in their capacity as registered representatives of the broker and not in their capacity as bank employees. In this situation, the bank should place an 'X' in the box marked 'No.'
