Bank peer analysis software with custom peer groups.

Rank any bank against its asset-size tier or a peer group you build, on every UBPR-style ratio, and reuse the group every quarter.

BankRegReports capital view for a bank showing CET1, tier 1 and total risk-based capital ratios, leverage, TCE ratio, risk-weighted assets and capital buffers with quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year changes.

Bank peer analysis software compares one bank's ratios with those of similar banks and says where it ranks. On BankRegReports every bank is ranked against the banks in its asset-size tier, one of six bands, on each ratio, with the peer median and the bank's percentile shown beside the value. A free account builds a custom peer group from a state, charter, asset size or a hand-picked list, and the medians and percentiles recompute against it every quarter.

The challenge

  • The default UBPR peer group is set by asset size alone and may not match how a bank competes.
  • Rebuilding a peer set in a spreadsheet each quarter is slow and easy to get wrong.
  • A peer median without the bank's percentile and trend does not show whether a gap is new.

How BankRegReports helps

Peer percentiles on every ratio

Each ratio on a bank's profile shows the peer median and the bank's percentile against its asset-size tier, so an outlier is visible without a separate report.

Custom peer groups, free

Build a peer group from a state, charter, asset-size band or a hand-picked list of banks or credit unions, and the platform computes the peer medians and percentiles against it. A group holds one kind of institution, so credit unions are compared only with credit unions.

Rankings by metric and state

Leaderboards rank every bank on assets, deposits, ROA, efficiency, capital and credit quality, nationally and by state, from the latest quarter.

How peer analysts put it to work

Typical workflows, from the first search to a client-ready or board-ready output.

Build the ALCO peer set once and reuse it

Your bank competes with a specific set of banks in its market, not with every bank its size. You build that set once and read every ratio against it each quarter.

  1. Create a custom peer group from a hand-picked list or a state and size filter.
  2. Open your bank's ratios with the group's median and your percentile.
  3. Reuse the group next quarter; it recomputes as the new filings load.

Frequently asked questions

What is bank peer analysis?

Comparing a bank's financial ratios with those of a group of similar banks, usually by asset size, geography or business model, to see whether a figure is typical or an outlier. The UBPR does this with FFIEC peer groups; custom peer groups let an analyst choose the comparison set.

Are custom peer groups free?

Yes. Any free account can build custom peer groups of banks or of credit unions. Pro adds Excel tearsheets, CSV exports and a higher API allowance, at the price published on the pricing page.

What is the default peer group?

Every bank is ranked against the banks in its asset-size tier, one of six bands, unless you choose a custom group.

Can I compare a bank with credit unions?

Not in one group. A custom peer group holds either banks or credit unions, because the two file different reports with different capital measures.
