Community rules
These rules cover posting in the BankRegReports community. They add to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If a rule here conflicts with the Terms, the Terms control. Last updated October 9, 2026.
Not legal or regulatory advice
Posts here are opinions from community members. They are not legal, accounting or regulatory advice and not statements by any regulator. Confirm against the primary source or your counsel before you act. Do not present an answer as the position of a regulator, and do not say you speak for your employer.
Who can post
The community is members-only: every thread, reply and profile is visible only to approved members, and none of it is indexed by search engines. To join, request access with a free account and a confirmed email address. A member of our team reviews each request, and paid subscribers are approved automatically.
- New accounts, during the first 24 hours: up to 3 threads, up to 10 replies, and no links.
- All other accounts: up to 10 threads and 60 replies in any 24 hours.
- Every account waits 20 seconds between posts.
These limits keep spam out. They lift on their own and they are the same for everyone.
What to post
Questions and answers about US bank and credit union regulation: Call Report and FR Y-9C instructions, NCUA 5300, CECL, capital, liquidity, deposit insurance, exams, enforcement, CRA, HMDA, BSA/AML and mergers. Questions about the data on this site belong in Using BankRegReports data.
- Name the form, schedule and line item, or the rule and section.
- Say what you have already read and where it left you unsure.
- Ask one question per thread.
- When you answer, cite where you found it and separate what the text says from your own reading.
What not to post
- Confidential supervisory information, such as non-public examination ratings, reports or findings.
- Personal data, email addresses, or information about a customer or client.
- Speculation that a named institution is failing or insolvent. Discuss published data and cite it.
- Promotion, recruiting, vendor pitches or anything that reads like an advertisement.
- Harassment, slurs, personal attacks, or anything unlawful.
- The same text posted twice, or text written only to attract search traffic.
Links and formatting
Posts use Markdown. You can use bold, lists, quotes, code and tables. Images are not supported. A post can contain at most 3 links, and every link you post carries a nofollow attribute, so it passes no ranking credit. Name the source in words as well, so a reader can find it if the link moves.
Voting and accepted answers
Members can upvote a thread or reply once and cannot vote on their own posts. Votes add to the author's reputation. The person who started a thread, or BankRegReports staff, can mark one reply as the accepted answer. An accepted answer is the asker's judgment that it solved their question. It is not a verification that the answer is correct.
Editing
You can edit your own post for 60 minutes after you publish it. We keep the earlier version of every edit, and staff can see it. After the window, add a reply to correct a mistake.
Reports and moderation
Any signed-in member can report a post. BankRegReports staff review reports and can remove a post, lock a thread, pin a thread, or end a member's ability to post. Staff record each action in a moderation log. Posts written by BankRegReports employees in their staff role carry the byline "BankRegReports staff". To appeal an action, contact the team.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give BankRegReports a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and distribute your post on this site and in search results and summaries of it. To have a specific post removed, contact the team. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and display name, and your posts stay up under the name "Former member".
If you start a thread, we email you when someone replies, at most once per thread every 15 minutes. You can turn this off in your community profile. We do not email you about anything else because you posted.
