Frequently asked questions
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call external tools. Connect BankRegReports once and the assistant can look up banks, credit unions and holding companies, pull trends and run screens through 114 read-only tools, instead of guessing from memory.
Which assistants work?
Claude (web, desktop and Claude Code), Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, and any other client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP.
Do I need an account?
The sign-in connector at mcp.bankregreports.com requires a BankRegReports account on a Pro or Scale plan. The keyless endpoint at api.bankregreports.com/api/mcp/ is free, needs no account and serves the public datasets. A free brr_ API key adds the free-tier datasets.
Is it read-only?
Yes. Every tool only reads data. The connector cannot change your account, your watchlists or any filing.
What data is available and how current is it?
FFIEC call reports and UBPR, FDIC, NCUA, Federal Reserve NIC and SEC EDGAR data, covering banks, credit unions and holding companies. Answers reflect the latest quarter filed with the regulators, and the Data Updates page shows the most recent quarter loaded.
How do I disconnect?
Revoke access under Connected apps in your BankRegReports account settings, or remove the connector in your AI client. Either one ends access.
What units do the numbers use?
Dollar amounts from call reports are in thousands of US dollars unless a field says otherwise. Ratios are percentages.
