A bank merger here is a transaction in which a bank's charter ends and its assets pass to another institution, recorded by the Federal Reserve's National Information Center (NIC) as a merger or a purchase and assumption. The acquirer can be another bank, a holding company's bank or a credit union. Every row is a merger or purchase and assumption (NIC transformation type 1), the same type the yearly pages count. A dash means the field is not recorded. The accounting method is recorded only when the survivor is a bank, trust company or industrial bank: "pooling of interests or common control" combines the two balance sheets at book value, and "purchase or acquisition" records the deal at market value. Names link to a profile when one exists.
